I had the pleasure of attending the open house for Advanced Pediatric Therapies, Inc., on February 17th, 2009 at their new location in Vancouver, WA. My friend, Sharron Donnelly, MS, OTR/L, is the co-owner and manages the new Vancouver office.

APT is a private pediatric occupational therapy practice which focuses on providing individualized, multi-faceted and holistic treatments for the children they see to enhance their physical, cognitive and social skills. The services they offer address such things as sensory integration, fine motor skills, postural stability, bilateral coordination and therapeutic listening just to name a few.

I highly recommend their services and encourage you to contact their office if you have concerns regarding your child’s needs. They also have an office in SW Portland.

You may get more information from their website here.

Thanks for coming back to visit my blog. If you like the content I have here, let all your friends know and make sure you send me your questions and comments.

BodyTalk and Your Child

I’ve been using the BodyTalk system as a mainstay of my treatment regimen with babies, children and teenagers for many years now. It is my opinion that BodyTalk is the ultimate when it comes to energy medicine modalities for kids.

BodyTalk involves gentle tapping on the head and chest, somewhat like acupressure but different. A simple kinesiology based muscle testing technique is used to navigate through and among different categories and possibilities. The information that can be attained by BodyTalk is truly unique and all-encompassing.

Parents universally are intrigued by this interesting method and several of my patient’s parents have gone to take the training program called Access which is given here in our local community every few months.

The technique has now spread across the world so that wherever you are located, it is likely you can get trained to use this wonderful method.

For more information on BodyTalk and how I use it in my practice, go to this page on my office site called Alternative-Medicine-Works.

If you are in the Portland, Oregon metro area, check the Portland BodyTalk Association site for local practitioners and the training program schedule for Bodytalk Access classes.

If you are in some other locale, go to the International BodyTalk Association site where you can look up practitioners and classes being given in your area.
